Buying Guide

Everything you need to specify a LongShade windproof roller blind — how to pick the fabric openness, the engineering inside the system, fabric questions answered, and where these blinds perform best in Singapore homes and businesses.

Openness Factor: How Much Can You See Through?

The openness factor is the percentage of open weave in the sunscreen fabric. A lower percentage blocks more light and gives more privacy; a higher percentage keeps the view and airflow clearer. The same scene through six openness levels:

Six openness factors compared on one scene
Openness What you get Best for
0% Total blackout — blocks light & view completely Bedrooms, media rooms, sun-facing west walls
1% Subtle light — added privacy Bedrooms, bathroom windows, close-facing neighbours
5% Soft glow — keeps your room cool Living rooms, balconies where sun protection comes first
10% Softens glare — airy & well-ventilated Balconies and studies — the balance of view and shade
30% Bright & airy — clear view, less heat Landscape balconies, dining areas
50% Almost clear — enjoy the full view High-rise views where you mainly need wind & rain protection
Rule of thumb: bedrooms and west-facing rooms start at 0–1%; living rooms and balconies feel best at 5–10%; if the view is the point — high-rise terraces, landscaped balconies — go 30–50%. Not sure? We bring fabric samples to you.

Six Core Technologies Behind Every LongShade Blind

What separates a windproof roller blind from an ordinary one is what you cannot see. Six engineered systems keep the fabric true, quiet and stable in wind, rain and sun.

FGS Dual Tapered Spring Drive
01

FGS Dual Tapered Spring Drive

The motor and spring system are cleverly designed and intelligently integrated. Through the coordinated action of both components the blind is driven efficiently — an advanced drive concept, implemented.

Self-Balancing Spring System
02

Self-Balancing Spring System

Balancing torque adjusts automatically, and imported piano-wire springs deliver a longer service life.

Smart Balancer
03

Smart Balancer

Two hook-type bearings and one ball bearing on an adjustable steel-rail sliding system keep the fabric entering the zipper guide vertically — significantly prolonging the blind’s service life.

Aviation-Grade Aluminium Profile
04

Aviation-Grade Aluminium Profile

Nylon-fibre-reinforced engineering plastic parts with Grade 304 stainless-steel connectors deliver superior structural rigidity. Fits 98 / 83 / 70 / 55 mm tubes.

Fabric Guidance Technology
05

Fabric Guidance Technology

Nano strips work with the balancer to auto-centre the fabric according to how much is wound on the tube, so it enters the side channels at a minimal angle — protecting the fabric and extending its life.

High-Temp Zipper Guide Rail
06

High-Temp Zipper Guide Rail

A unique hollow structure gives higher strength and prevents the zipper from derailing.

Fabric FAQ

What material is the fabric made of?

Common sunscreen fabrics are mainly composed of polyester fibre + PVC or fibreglass + PVC. Polyester offers the best value for money — sun shading, heat insulation, anti-bacterial properties, UV protection, privacy and flame retardancy, while staying relatively eco-friendly and cost-effective. Fibreglass fabrics are mainly used in projects that demand extremely high durability, dimensional stability and fire resistance, such as large buildings and sports stadiums.

What is the difference between locally produced and imported fabrics?

Fabric quality is determined by the raw material formula, production equipment and manufacturing process. Within the same polyester category, imported fabrics generally offer better stability, lower shrinkage and stronger self-cleaning performance.
