1. Sun Protection & Light Adjustment Usage (Daily Sunny Days)
In Singapore’s hot and sunny daytime (10:00-16:00), it is recommended to lower the roller blinds to 70%-80% of the total height. This operation can block most ultraviolet rays and thermal radiation to prevent indoor overheating and furniture aging, while reserving a small gap at the bottom to ensure air circulation and avoid stuffy outdoor space. For sunscreen mesh blinds, full lowering is allowed, as the breathable mesh design balances sunshade and ventilation without causing air stagnation.
2. Rainproof Usage (Sudden Tropical Rain)
When encountering sudden heavy rain, fully lower the roller blinds and ensure the bottom hem bar fits closely with the ground or balcony sill to form a fully closed waterproof layer. It is worth noting that do not roll up the blinds immediately after rain. The wet fabric will breed mold and corrode the internal roller mechanism if rolled up. Wait for the blinds to be completely air-dried naturally before retracting to protect the fabric and hardware.
3. Windproof & Storm Prevention Usage
Singapore is affected by strong winds and occasional thunderstorms all year round. When the wind speed exceeds level 5 or storm warnings are issued, must retract the roller blinds completely. The outdoor blind fabric is flexible and will shake violently in strong winds, which is easy to cause fabric tearing, track deformation, and bracket loosening. For zip-track roller blinds with high wind resistance, they can be properly reserved for use in moderate winds, but full retraction is still required in extreme weather.
